The TikTok content creator no longer has to wait to become an app star to enable automatic captions. It is now possible to activate descriptions even before using them.
As part of a series of recent updates, TikTok has added subtitles that are automatically generated and can be enabled for any video on the platform . With this upgrade, if the user has hearing problems or simply wants to watch the video on mute, due to being in a noisy environment, he can.
The social network also added some translations for the subtitles and some text stickers. If the user is watching a video made in another language and is not sure what is being said, video descriptions are also available.
In this language support, some have been selected. Check out:
- English
- German
- Indonesian
- Italian
- Korean
- Mandarin
- Portuguese
- Spanish
- Turkish
The news demonstrates Tiktok’s recognition of the need to improve the experience of users with audiovisual problems.

TikTok announces update to improve video suggestions
The company that owns TikTok, ByteDance , announced on Wednesday that users will be able to determine more specific words and hashtags that they do not want to see in their feeds. Therefore, TikTok itself will automatically filter out what is not wanted, making your “For You” (the platform’s video recommendations) more personalized. The company didn’t give an exact date for the update, but said it would be out “in the next few weeks.”
The platform itself is also releasing two new automated filtering and moderation tools. One is “Content Levels”, which categorizes the content to be offered based on “thematic maturity”. It is designed to prevent 18+ videos from being shown to minors. The app made a comparison with rating systems that we find in video games and movies.
