Xbox Creator Reveals ‘Jurassic World’ Was An Idea For Video Games

“Jurassic World” could have been born from the consoles. Whoever affirms this story is the designer and creator of XboxSeamus Blackley, on his Twitter profile.

According to Blackley, he began working with the director Steven Spielberg in 2012 to produce a new game in the “Jurassic Park” franchise. A story and design elements were even developed, as well as a trailer for the game.

“One day, I got a call from some people at Universal. “Steven was thinking about restarting the franchise, and we thought it could be relaunched with a new Trespasser,” Blackley said in a Twitter thread.

“Jurassic Park: Trespasser” is a game released in 1998 for PC and developed by Blackley. The story took place after the movie “The Lost World – Jurassic Park”, from 1997.

Following the conversation with Universal, Blackley met with Kathleen Kennedy, co-founder of Amblin Entertainment, the studio that holds the rights to “Jurassic Park” alongside Universal. In the dialogue, Kennedy informed that the designer could write the script and develop a trailer for the possible game “Jurassic World”. After that, he would show the results to Spielberg and Universal’s co-chairs.

“I wrote a story about dinosaurs on Isla Sorna and how humans had to come to terms with the real owners of the planet,” Blackley wrote. “My thesis was that the public wanted to know about dinosaurs, more than simply wanting to kill them. They’re not monsters. They are earthlings,” he added.

“With the help of incredibly talented coders and artists, we came up with the game design and art design. We call it Jurassic World,” revealed the Xbox creator.

During the negotiations, however, there was a change in the administration of the Universal, which changed the company’s internal plans. With that, “Jurassic World” ended up becoming a movie instead of a game.

The “Jurassic World” film series began in 2015 with two sequels: “Falling Kingdom” in 2018 and “Domain” released this year. The combination of the three films grossed over $3 billion at the box office.
