Fallout 2 is one of games most iconic in history video games and it’s not uncommon to see some players asking for a name change. Taking advantage of this wave, a fan of the franchise used an image generator to change the characters in the story.
User reddit “Misha_Air” shared an image which depicts a female character from Fallout 2 with graphics vastly improved from the original. The program used was Stable Diffusion, a machine learning model that generates images from texts.
“It took a bit of freedom with the armor design, moving fan service from the chest to the crotch, and trying to create a shoulder-mounted weapon,” a user wrote.
“Misha_Air” also reviewed the text he used in the program to create the enhanced image: “Woman in metal armor Mad Max Fallout, modern style, detailed face, beautiful face, Greg Rutkowski and Alphonse Mucha, D&D character, in front of an urban background, digital painting , concept art, clear soft focus illustration, ArtStation HQ.”
After that, the user continued to make more alterations and made another mail with lots of images of NPCs from Fallout 2. The results are impressive compared to the blurry and “pixelated” image of the original.
Other Reddit users praised the work and stated that the models fit very well with the style of the franchise. In this context, many have taken advantage of the conversation to express their desire for a Fallout 2 remake or remaster.
